Good morning and Happy Sunday!!! How are you feeling? That joy up in your spirit? Thank you to everyone who replied back yesterday. We really activated joy. It felt like church. Sigh…man, I miss church. The music, the energy, the connection. I am so grateful to feel that with y’all. God is good!
Okay, my last three emails have not introduced a member of The List, so let me catch up.
Krystal is a young woman on this list. I met her over ten years ago in that liberal hood school. She was in my English and extended class and also on the step team I advised, so any given day we spent six hours together. Krystal was different than the other kids. She was sweet in a way that made her a target. She was as quick to laugh as she was to cry and she was generous to a fault. I always admired that strength. Even in the tears, she dared to love. Today, Krystal is a flight attendant. Fly and free, she crisscrosses the country on all types of adventure.
Nichelle is a woman on this list. I mentioned her before, because as a Capricorn she couldn’t stand my misuse of P.S. and researched it for us. Nichelle is one of my sister, Annah’s, best friends. I met her when I was about fourteen and she damn near had my jaw on the floor. Nichelle is wild. She oozes sex in a Robin Givens, Stacy Dash type of way. She’s smart and quick and ambitious. And she fucks with me hard. Whenever I come to Atlanta, I crash with Nichelle and marvel at her ways. Even though life has dished her an unholy amount of grief, she has kept her joy.
Joselyn is a woman on this list. We met on Instagram and even through that digital space, I can sense her spirit. Joselyn is sharp-tongued and don’t take no shit. She often votes against me in “Am I Bugging” and whenever she writes back her quips be having me rolling.
