Happy Monday!
I woke up sore and groggy. Made my way to my phone and to my journal. I won’t lie, I turned the phone on first. Super stoked from yesterday’s IG posts, I was happy to see that dozens of people saved the tips for getting back in writing shape. I was also happy to see the poll results from “Am I Bugging.” I’m proud of my consistency.
Mondays are interesting for me. I work every day and around the clock, so Mondays don’t have the same menace as it does for 9-5ers. It’s special because it’s the day I wake up at my lover’s. Fresh off the boat, he works B & C shifts with just Sunday off. The immigrant hustle is no joke y’all.
Both divorced and obsessed with our solo pursuits, the once a week trysts work well for us. And like most Nigerians new to this country, he is overeducated and overqualified for the work he does. Which kinda works in my favor. He’s more than happy to share his expertise with me. We plot, we crack wicked jokes, and we dance into the wee hours of the morning.
How’s that for a Monday?

P.S. Today’s opening quote comes from Tupac.
P.P.S. Okay, time for our daily task! I want you to stare in the mirror. At first, your attention will be on your physical form. The shape of your face, your skin, your “flaws.” But if you keep at it, breathe deeply and stare through your eyes, something deeper will occur. Your soul will speak to you. Listen. Then pick up a pen and write whatever comes up.
P.P.P.S. I wonder if that was too much information. Did I share something too personal? But anything else I would have written here, in this moment would have been fake. And we don’t do that.
