“Then she who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.”

Good morning and Happy Friday šŸ™‚

That sentence took all of the exuberance that I have. This will not be a feel-good email. I make no apologies. Someone reading this needs to hear some real shit so here we go…

I want my “roommate” out. Gone. Away from me. I love her dearly and she is lovely and blah, blah, blah, but I don’t have the time or the energy to share my home with another. And by home I mean my workspace. I don’t even have sofas or t.v.s in this bitch. There is a desk and swivel chair to write. Mirrors for dancing. A table and cushions to eat. And a bed to rest. That is all. Janika and I designed the space like this intentionally. For productivity. This is not a space to chill. It is not a space for extended company. It is a space to get shit done. That’s why I moved to Houston.

This single-mindedness, this focus is baffling to others, I know. It can easily be dismissed as selfish. I don’t giveĀ a fuck. I was raised to get results. The Holy Spirit brought me to Christ as an adult (kicking and screaming ’cause I wanted no parts of the white man’s religion) and that same power makes the status quo and mediocrity completely intolerable for me. I have a sense of urgency that wakes meĀ from sleep and makes meĀ constantly strive and face rejection and wake up and strive all over again. I amĀ built different than most. When I die and meet my maker, She will say good and faithful servant. She will be pleased that I flipped every talent she gave me. Anything short just won’t do.

So what now? Now I must have another long ass emotionally draining conversation. I must set a move out date. I might lose a friend. But what I won’t lose is my purpose.

P.S. Today’s quote comes from Matthew 25:16. It is one of my favorite Scriptures. In it, Jesus is telling a story of how a boss gave her employees talents to flip. The fruitful ones doubled theirs. The shook one buried it and came up with an excuse.Ā
P.P.S. Okay, time for our daily task! It’s kinda the opposite of our last two. Make a list of habits and people you need to cut in order to flip your talents. Did you stomach clench reading that? Good.
